Aloha Kauai!!

As most of you know I took an internship with Del Sol and moved to Kauai last week. I will be here on the island until January. It is unbelievable over here!! I am so amazed at how green and luscious everything is. The whole fam dropped me off at the airport. I'm not going to lie, at that point I was starting to get a little nervous wondering what I had done. Jessica Jensen (or brown haired Jessica, since we have two we have to have a way to distinguish the two) met me at the airport to fly out. Blond hair Jessica Dunn and Tessa flew out a day later. A few tears were shed at the airport (so maybe I am a momma's girl) but it was mostly excitement for the big move!

We are temporarily living in the cutest townhouse in Lihue. We were supposed to move this weekend but things are still up in the air as to where we are headed next. Our backyard is honest to goodness the jungle. Cane spiders and all live back in there. But we will be moving eventually to a new house so it is only temporary.

The first Sunday we got here we all went to church. We have the best ward with a ton of fun, great people. After church we all took a little Sunday nap and headed on down to Poipu. It is the most beautiful tourist town with gorgeous beaches!

After church I made dinner for us all and we hung out at our house. I'm not going to lie, Sunday was tough being away from the family. But still a great day. Who can really complain when they live in Hawaii?!

The next day was Monday and we got to work to get started with the color changing world of Del Sol. It is kind of a boring place when there isn't a cruise ship in port because there isn't too many hotel shoppers. After work Chad from our stake came and took us to FHE where we met a few locals and had a great lesson. It is so neat that the church stays the same no matter where you are.

Tuesday was the treasured day off of the week. Our friend Nephi from our stake offered to teach me and brown Jessica how to surf. I don't think he knew what he was getting himself into.... Needless to say he ended up becoming my new BFF and we had tons of fun. He is a great teacher and I totally am able to stand up and surf. Okay so I'm not quite pro yet, but just give me some time!

After surfing we headed on down to Poipu to hit the beach. I must say it is great on those days to feel like you are on vacation and just travel all over the island. We had lunch on the beach and hung out in the sun. It really does not get better than that!!

We did have our first encounter with a cane spider. It showed up on our wall in me and brown Jessica's bedroom at midnight one night. We tried to kill the dang thing with Windex (like we have been told to do) but nothing happened. So Tessa came to the rescue with a shoe. Needless to say we still didn't sleep the greatest that night. Nothing like feeling you will get your leg cut eaten off by a gigantic spider!!

Everybody out here has really been so great to us!! Everyone is so hospitable and so generous. It is such a great lifestyle! Saturday morning Nephi took me and blond Jessica surfing again. Chad also came to help out with the teaching. We got some really fun pictures and had a great time! Next time I will have to get more. Nephi is practically a pro surfer. He surfs with his dog and can surf standing on his head. I wish I grew up here and that I surfed my whole life! After surfing we all went out to lunch before me and Jess had to go to work. It was a super fun morning!
